Environment

The public perception of motorized water sports water sports enthusiasts are met with a certain amount of skepticism, as they are often as polluters of the environment.

In this respect, we at the club see constant commitment with educational work and compliance with all relevant regulations as the minimum the minimum goal that we pursue.

For example, the club's own port regulations ensures that the handling of substances hazardous to the environment and health on the club premises is limited to the unavoidable minimum. In addition, the club is committed to the environmentally friendly conservation of the habitat, first and foremost on its own property, of course, but also with regard to nearby nature conservation areas (e.g. the nearby nature reserves (e.g. the “Wormser Ried” directly adjacent to the south). Ried").

Some examples of our environmental measures:

  • Participation in and holding our own environmental seminar(s)
  • Creation of an organic composting site on the club grounds
  • Creation of a “bee-friendly meadow”
  • Hanging up “bee hotels” on the club grounds
  • In 2019: Keeping a small flock of sheep during the summer months of 2019 for the sustainable and ecological maintenance of our property

The efforts of recent years are bearing fruit, and the constructive cooperation between water sports, nature conservationists and authorities has already largely defused the potential for conflict between motorboat sports and nature conservation.

With regard to our harbor facilities, the MYCW has been continuously

  • since 2002 with the “Blue Flag” for exemplary environmental and harbor management and
  • since 2006 with the DMYV seal of quality.

The award ceremony for all the award-winning marinas in southwest Germany took place at the MYCW in summer 2017, in conjunction with our 50th club anniversary.
